I thought I would give you a bit of history about my Elemental Voice books. Where the inspiration of their names came from. And where the original cover ideas sparked from.

 Each book of the Elemental Voice series drew from a mythos, however obscure, for their titles and the relevant element symbols for the covers.

Book 1(Earth Reader) and Book 2(Fire Walker) came from ancient rituals of renewal that I stumbled upon and promptly forgot most of.  In Book 3 (Water Ferrier) I mentioned Charon, the ancient water ferrier himself from the River Styx and part of his mythology. Book 4(Wind Whisperer) is from a legend of a warrior who transformed/disappeared into the wind when jumping to his death. 

I remember reading these mythos and thinking 'elementals' were involved. So of course that came back when I started to write this series. And the names grew from that.

Book 5 (Spirit Aether) is slightly different. Aether is the name of the plane where all five elements meet. The fifth element is however different to different beliefs. There is also a set of five different elements. However for my Elementals these five are the natural choice. In more than one way. :) 

As to the symbols, I chose basic ones to represent the relevant element. When I decided to redo the covers I chose a skull to be the uniting symbol with the element relevant to the book. However I didn't want it matchy matchy. So...

Books 1-3 are out, Book 4 is one of my WIP.

I added the backstory of how Sara got her gift to this blog under Pages. I scribbled it down before I wrote Earth Reader to get where she was coming from mentally and emotionally. I haven't touched it since I wrote it. Hope you enjoy it. Link: Drabble

Now on to the regularly scheduled post:

This is the blog for an Urban Fantasy series called Elemental Voice. It is set in a world where psychics consult regularly with the police and vampires live next door. The FMC Sara reads the earth like a medium hears the dead and finds dead bodies for the police.

The first one is called Earth Reader. Fire Walker (book2) and Water Ferrier (book3) are out. Number 4 (Wind Whisperer) is in the works. There is to be five books in this series.

These older books are in what I call 'movie style' or pulp. Fast paced and action oriented with little description and a lot of dialog. They are also my first books, full of my inexperience but also full of my creativity. I have left them as is. Sentimentality. These series will be finished. However they are further down the queue. Unless someone can persuade me to make them jump the line. :)

There is also a 'companion' series to EV.

Deadly Sands is out and Deadly Flames is now out too. Book 3 of the trilogy is in the works. They go into the relationship a bit more and are set around vacations, that turn into busman's holidays. Can her vampire FBI agent boyfriend keep her safe when death joins them on holiday?

I also have another book out. Mortal Voice is an Urban Fantasy set in the contemporary world circa 2018. So, sorry no vampires here, lol. But Jaci does have the same 'gift' as Sara. MV is the first book in a series of its own. This series has two more books to go. She sees secrets in the Earth. Will she find the evidence in time or is she destined for a grave herself?

Post 34

 The new covers are live. 

The cover for Earth Reader I tried to fit to the first scene in the book. Driving to the crime scene, knowing why she's there. Sara reads the earth like a medium hears the dead. I think it will grab attention and entice to read the blurb. 

Each book has a skull and element to replace the elemental symbols I used on the original covers. I still love my original covers but I was told they didn't read Urban Fantasy or murder mystery.  But I don't like the covers that have half-nakkid men or sexily clad action-posed women which is prevalent in UF so I went more toward murder mystery with paranormal bits.

 Thank you all who downloaded my first book in the Elemental Voice series. There are two sequels up right now plus two side books. Please check them out. As stated below they were my first books out when I started this writing journey.

The covers are being redone and should be up soon. I was told that my covers are why I wasn't getting much interest or sales so I revamped. But no nakkid chests or sexily clad action-posed women are going on my books. (Dude, Where's my shirt?! :) )  So I went toward murder/ mystery novel covers with a bit of the elements added.  I love the old covers as I did them myself but it seems others don't.  

Deadly Flames is a set-up of sort for part of  the plot of Wind Whisperer. It also shows the inequality of the law toward certain individuals that still happens.  The addition of vampires has enriched life and technology for humans, but some things have not changed due to human nature. After all humans are the largest percentage of the population and the seemingly dominant one.
